Comienza el nuevo año 26/27 en ECPV

A New Academic Year Begins at ECPV

There is something special about gathering again each September—seeing familiar faces, meeting newcomers, and looking ahead to a full academic year packed with projects that do not yet exist.

This year, we held the 2026–2027 academic year kickoff gala at the Sala Indautxu in Bilbao, upholding a tradition that holds great meaning for us: starting the year by watching films together.

During the gala, we screened three short films produced at ECPV last year. Afterward, we spoke with the creative teams about the process, the decisions made, the successes, and all the other elements of filmmaking that usually never make it to the screen.

We were also joined by our colleagues from Epic Films Rental—ECPV alumni themselves—who shared their journey with the new students, tracing the path from their time in the classroom to the creation and growth of what is now a leading film equipment rental company. After all, sometimes the best way to envision where you might be in a few years is to listen to those who sat in those very same classrooms before you.

A new academic year begins, bringing back the cameras, the conversations, the questions, the shoots, and the ideas that—in a few months’ time—we might well be watching in a movie theater.

Welcome to the 2026–2027 academic year. We have a lot of cinema ahead of us.
