Introduction
The Introduction to Film Directing Workshop is a space aimed at aspiring film directors as well as those interested in other roles within filmmaking.
Designed as an introduction to film production in a comprehensive sense, the workshop offers a theoretical and practical format in which students will participate in the making of a personal or collective short film by the end of the course.
Sessions divided into three units
The sessions will be divided into three units, structured around both key moments in film history and the various stages of film production.
For the theoretical sessions, there will be opportunities for collective reading and reflection based on a selection of texts, with a focus on writings by filmmakers themselves.
The practical sessions will alternate between discussions on written and filmed materials created by the participants and collaborative work on scripts, editing, and audiovisual content.
At the end of the workshop, three free follow-up sessions—individual or group—will be offered, allowing the instructor to support each student’s process through the different stages of producing a short film.

Target audience
To introduce students to narrative challenges that traverse the dramatic structures of both classical and modern cinema, from a perspective that enables them to interpret contemporary film.
Building on this foundational distinction, the goal is to provide students with tools to identify choices related to mise-en-scène, drama, production, and performance, taking into account the different narrative frameworks, rules of the game, and formal freedoms in which these choices take place.
To offer students the possibility of building, with an awareness of the diverse narrative traditions present in the history of cinema, a framework of cultural identification that allows them to explore personal interests and questions that may emerge throughout the course.
